Last week, I spent five days in Maine on a retreat with 5 women in ministry roles, through the Baptist Women in Ministry Mentoring Program. My cohort of 6 formed in January of 2025, at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Matthews, North Carolina, and wrapped up our 18 months together at an AirBNB on a lake in Portland, Maine.
We enjoyed time together, we rested, we fellowshipped, and reminisced on 18 months of monthly meetings together, with a promise to keep in touch and meet quarterly. The Baptist Women in Ministry Mentoring Program is a grant funded program which provided the beginning retreat and funds for the wrap-up retreat at no cost to the participants. The grant is from the philanthropic arm of the Lily Pharmaceuticals company, which is very generous to clergy. I'm grateful for this time away, for a Saturday spent sitting on the dock overlooking the lake, and for the friendships built and the community gained through this program. Humans are built for community, and this built-in one was balm for my soul over the past 18 months. Thank you for your patience while I was away, and allowing me this time to rest and renew. It is good to be back.
